On October 1, 2024, during the Unreal Fest Seattle 2024, Epic Games' Bill Clifford revealed that the game surpassed 20 million units sold last week and showed a video message from Feng Ji, who conveyed that one of their best decisions may have been to develop the game on Unreal Engine and that they will continue to collaborate closely with Epic Games and create the next generation of immersive virtual experiences.
Even now, some three months later, it’s still going strong on Valve’s platform – and there could be more on the way. Following previous reports that Black Myth Wukong may be getting an expansion, the game’s director shares a short but possibly telling tease about something new in the coming months.
Black Myth Wukong developer Game Science suggested that the next instalment in the RPG would not be a full sequel, but something else, hinting that an expansion of some kind might be in the works. Now, Feng Ji, Game Science’s co-founder and CEO, and Black Myth Wukong’s director, teases “surprises” on the way in the imminent future.
“If you haven’t played Black Myth Wukong yet, now you have one more reason to give it a try,” Ji says, after accepting the Golden Joystick Award for Ultimate Game of the Year. “Of course, you might have already completed our game. That’s perfectly fine, too. Keep following us, and there might just be some surprises waiting for you later this year.”
The DLC release date was given by reliable first-hand sources, according to blogger Daniel Camilo, but he did not provide any specific content details. On Tuesday, several Chinese media outlets, including Gamersky, Sina Technology, and IThome, re-posted the news.
