With the Unique Effect, heavy attacks that consume 4 Focus Points inflict banes on the enemy based on stances. This means that in order to use this weapon's special effect, you need to accumulate 4 Focus Points (getting 3 Focus Points is easy, but 4 is difficult). With the Galeguard Beastmaw Chest Armor and Galeguard Bracers Set Bonus (which grants considerable additional Focus upon perfect dodges), you can earn more Focus Points by performing perfect dodges. However, you have to be patient and fight defensively. Let the enemy attack you, perform perfect dodges to gain Focus Points, and use a 4-Focus-Point heavy attack when you are in a safe position (see examples at 1:48 and 3:26). If you hit the enemy, the damage dealt is very high—around 7k!
The Fanged Cyan Staff is a good weapon suited for a defensive playstyle. If you use it to fight against your enemies and hope to win the battle, your level of skill, technique, and strategy—especially for a defensive style—will face a very tough challenge.
