This combo system gives a bit more depth to the combat, if you like to play manual there are several combos you can perform. The normal attack animation is divided into three segments (2 for the mage) and a final attack, at the end of each segment you can interrupt the animation and perform an extra attack.

This is how it works:

X=Attack
P=Pause (release for 0.5sec)
Normal Attack (Full Animation) = X→X→X→X

- 1st Combo= X→P→X
- 2nd Combo = X→X→P→X
- 3rd Combo = X→X→X→P→X

You can also keep the attack button pressed and wait for the end of the attack animation segment (1,2 or 3), I think once you learn the pattern becomes easier this way.
