I am not 100% sure if I am playing the game right, but I kick the CPU's ass without thinking too much regardless. Like my last fighting game playthrough, I hope to show off the game, its mechanics, and what a character can do.

Blade Strangers is an oddity - released on PC/Switch - a fighting game starring mostly Nicalis characters with a few special guests such as the one I play as here. The game had some interest prior to release, and then it released. A crossover fighting game featuring indie characters is a great idea, but Nicalis' grab bag of characters is not really exciting. It says a lot that the protagonists from Cave Story are more recognizable than 80% of the roster. The game isn't bad per say, but for its price, you can do better in terms of gameplay and player count. I'd pick it up on sale if it looks interesting to you. Also, the game doesn't have special inputs - it has a special button, and depending on which direction held while the button is hit, you get a different special move. Does that sound familiar? Game released some time before Street Fighter 6 too.

Shovel Knight in this game, I think, has a strong strike/throw mix. While his command grab doesn't do as much damage as you'd think, it does come out relatively fast and scores a hard knockdown. Use the dig move on oki to force your opponent to block on wakeup and to give yourself frame advantage then go from there. Propeller dagger and the charged shovel strike are kind of weird moves, and I can't really find uses for them. Dagger could be used as an advancing mid-range normal or maybe an overhead, but don't quote me on that. Also, not too sure if Shovel Knight has any good pokes; forward light jab could be decent though I am not sure what would be a good poke for a title like this.
