Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 - Wily Machine 9 as Proto Man Challenge (1:46:06)
2I'm not used to doing this fight without an M Tank. I managed to no-hit the first 2 phases, but the third was pretty much down to luck for me. There are ways to manipulate the Wily Capsule's projectiles, I do not know how for the orange ones. I swapped to Hornet Chaser at the end and choked quite a bit, but still beat them. This was done on PC version of the Legacy Collection 2. The time I got put me into the top 200 times on that version. I can clearly improve it, but not at the moment.
Basically, I had to bring as much HP to the third phase as possible (if I get hit more than twice, I'd just reset). And on the third phase, I'd hope for the best and hit Wily with a plug ball, than tornado blow his projectiles away, and then hit him with another plug ball. Black hole bombs can help if he pops up in a bad spot and you aren't sure if you can dodge his projectiles, and hornet chaser can hit him anywhere while you focus on dodging (It didn't work for me here). If you are looking for hints just to beat him in regular Mega Man 9, all this stuff still applies, but just bring an M Tank and maybe a backup E Tank or two - save yourself the headache. If you want to do the in-game challenge of using no helping/recovery items, do that with Mega Man, not Proto Man.
