The Blair Witch Project if you're not too familiar with ends with the friends going into the woods to try and find the Blair Witch. This of course doesn't end well as they encounter a house that was supposedly burned down many years ago. Once they enter the house it's where everything starts going downhill and concludes with one of the most eerie endings to a horror movie. We don't really get any clarification as to what actually happens but by not showing much it truly adds to the horror of it. One key note to remember as well is the story of Rustin that is told in the same movie and later explored in a videogame. Rustin was a man in the 1940's who actually killed seven kids in the same house we see the friends end up. When Rustin was asked as to why he did it he simply said the voice of the witch told him to do it as he killed them one by one and the rest stood in corners. This will all be important information to remember from here on out as we explain the ending to the 2016 movie, Blair Witch. Blair Witch basically has the same concept ending with the group actually finding the same house as the others did. We do notice the house is explored more but it's still oddly familiar in a sense. In Blair Witch we have Heather's brother and his group of friends but we also have a local with his girlfriend exploring the woods earlier but ultimately split up. This split up then has them all meet up again only to realize that time has been moving differently for each group. In Heather's brother group only a couple of hours have passed as opposed to the locals who have been out for days. This time warp is important once we're in the house as it ties all three stories together. They also have all been pretty much been going in a circle and with no idea why this is all happening. In the movie finale as we see Heather's brother and his friend enter the house we are again reunited with the local man who now looks much older and is shocked to see them again. This all suggests that its been months and maybe even years since he's seen them while its been hours for them. The man than drops another huge news flash on them as he looks pretty crazy and keeps repeating that they have to follow what she says or else. It's obvious at this point that he's doing everything she asks of him. If we go back to the first encounter that been documented with the Blair Witch it would be with Rustin back in the 40's in the same house we've seen both movies end. This leads me to the end of my theory and that is both movies finales are happening at the same time. Yes, I know I may have lost you right there but hear me out on this first before you dismiss it. The moment I saw that the footage Heather's brother sees on YouTube at the beginning of the movie was actually the same footage they recorded at the end, it all finally clicked. We were seeing first hand exactly how the witch manipulates the forest in any way she wants and that includes space and time. The witch is able to play with time as we saw the sun never come back up even though it felt like hours for some and weeks for others. We also know she manipulates space because we hear all the noises of trees moving and even see some fall down and take out some people along the way. This would explain why our explorers could never find a way out, time was manipulated and the woods were as well. I have now explained how the witch manipulates everything from time and space but now for the big part of this theory is how she can also control people.

In the finale to the movie when we see the local man as I said earlier he warns them to follow the witch's orders or else. This means he is under her thumb and will do her every will no matter what. I'm pretty sure this means he is the one who kills them at the end in the house but not just the people in 2016 but also the 1999 explorers. Yes, once again as I said before I believe both groups are in the house at the same time and there's a lot to back this up. In the end of the movie we hear James apologizing for everything he did just as Heather did as well 22 years back. We also see the reason behind James running into the house is because he hears his sister inside and also hears her at the end of the movie resulting in his death. I believe both groups are in the house at the same time and both are killed by the same person, Rustin who actually is inhibiting the local man. The reason I believe it is Rustin is because they all stand in the corner as each of them is killed just like in the folklore for Rustin's murders. The time travel theory is also supported in the video game released revolving around the Blair Witch. In the video game you take the role of a detective out to investigate Rustin's murders and by the end of it you come across Heather collapsing with the camera. The game takes place in the 40's as well so how does Heather who's in the house in the late 90's pop up?
