Blindfolded KO! vs Mike Tyson, FINALLY by DTysonator!
29Here is the quick highlight of DTysonator's hard fought blindfolded KO! victory over Mike Tyson at 1;11 of Round 3 in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The climactic KO! was achieved on August 29th, 2014 (Judgment Day) at A & C World in Toronto, ON Canada & was recorded live on Twitch under the acgamesonline channel.
A KO! victory in this game differs greatly from a TKO. A KO! victory means that the opponent will stay down for the full 10 count after being knocked down a particular amount of times during a fight, while a TKO occurs by scoring 3 knockdowns in a single round.
Every opponent is different in terms of what dictates a potential KO! against them and some, such as Great Tiger and Bald Bull (first), never even stay down for a KO! at all! Fortunately, Mike Tyson CAN be knocked out, but this is easier said than done, especially when playing blindfolded obviously.
The player MUST do the following in order to either stand a chance, or guarantee a victory by KO! :
-Mike Tyson must be knocked down twice per round.
While there is a random chance that he might stay down for the count after being knocked down six times, Mike, showing the heart of a true champion, generally gets backs up to his feet (at least he did in all of my attempts anyway!).
However, there are two ways of ensuring a 100% KO!:
1-When the player manages to somehow guide Little Mac to a flawless victory (no blocking allowed), Mike Tyson will be forced to stay down after being knocked down for the sixth time in Round 3.
2-At some point in Round 3, the player must allow Little Mac to get knocked down by Mike Tyson, then get back up at the count of 9 with full energy and must then proceed to not take any damage afterwards, prior to knocking down the heavyweight champion for the sixth time.
If the above is done properly, the KO! will definitely happen, as it did in this video. The main issue, as far as Round 3 is concerned, is that Mike Tyson is at his most random here, so I had to hope that he would cooperate and swing wildly with his devastating uppercuts, in order for Little Mac to have a chance of countering them.
When Mike was down to a single hit (which I had absolutely no way of knowing at the time, given the fact that I was blindfolded), I was REALLY hoping that he would quickly respond with another uppercut, but when he chose to absolutely troll me with an 8 second delay instead, I had to dig down REAL deep to somehow avoid being hit by his late uppercut and then knock him down for the guaranteed KO!.
I had a feeling that once he went down that he would not be getting back up, hence my intense reaction :). Whether Mike would try to get back up and then fall back down while Mario was counting him out, or just stay flat on the mat for the entire 10 count, was entirely random, but when he actually proved to be out cold, it was a VERY EPIC moment, given all of the effort that had gone into this. It signalled that the 8-bit "Kid Dynamite" Mike Tyson was FINALLY Terminated!
While this KO! took TONS of hours to finally pull off, but proves that by always believing in yourself and never giving up, virtually anything is possible!

*Mike Tyson. You inspired me to always give it my all. I strived to bring the same level of intensity that you brought to the ring, but in the 8-bit video gaming ring of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, as I'm not a fighter in the real world obviously :).
That being said, I watched your fight against Glass Joe in this game & believe that with enough practice, you WILL also beat yourself in the end!
