[Synopsis]

This was a popular 3d shooter released in the late 1990s, and it was show cased on most computer game magazines at the time. This game was based on Blood (1997) released by Monolith Productions to be a Doom clone, it didn't use 3d acceleration like this game. This game is like a modern 1st person shooter in many ways, except for the graphics which is very late 1990ish. This is a very gory horror based game, and I am not into that genre.

The story of this game is very dystopian, it is upside down world ruled by a group called the Cabal. They are an evil group of people who worship a God called Tchernobog, and this God is very similar to Satan. If you didn't play the first game, you may not understand what is going on in the sequel. A little bit of a background, Caleb was betrayed by Tchernobog in the 1871 along with the 3 other Chosen followers of Tchernobog when he was invited to The Hall of the Epiphany. His wife was taken away by a demon, the 3 other chosen were killed, and Caleb was cast to a pit. 57 years later. Caleb woke up from a casket in a cemetery in 1928 to exact his revenge on the cult. The cult members wear robes with hoods, and they have re animated corpses by turning them into zombies. They are a sick twisted people who are sadistic and absolutely evil.

The weapons in Blood 1 are representative of that time line, like double barrel shotguns, Thompson sub machine guns, sticks of dynamite, and single shot flare guns. There are other weapons that don't belong in that timeline, like Tesla cannons, napalm guns, and remote control explosives. Other weapons are like Voodoo dolls and other magical weapons. Caleb succeeded in his mission by killing Tchernobog in 1928. In this game, you have to kill the Cabal cult leader named Gideon, or the Cabal will keep coming after you for what Caleb did in the prequel.

The weapons of Blood 2 are modern to weapons of science fiction. Modern small arms are like Beretta 92F 9mm, Mac-10 like sub machine gun, M-16A2 assault rifles with grenade launchers, remote control explosives, revolver flare gun, Barret .50 cal rifle, mini gun, etc. You have weapons from the first game, like the double barrel shotgun, life leech, voodoo doll, napalm cannon, and Tesla cannon as well. You have other weapons, like a corrosive bug spray, hand howitzer, singularity generator, and ray gun which are entirely new weapons.

Blood 2: The Chosen uses the same 3d engine as Shogo Mobile Armor Division, and they were both developed and published in the same year. Both games were released around Oct of 1998, and they had high system requirements at the time. You needed at least a Pentium 2 300 to get decent frame rates on it with a Voodoo 2 3d accelerator.
