Saw Spear is best saw.

Bloodborne is probably the hardest soulsborne the first time but it's actually the easiest to no damage the bosses.. Most of them can be stunlocked with limb breaks or they give lots of parry and backstab opportunities. I did no grinding and never bothered getting good runes or blood gems from Chalice Dungeons. Skill is just broken.

Saw Spear is the best weapon in the base game. Saw Cleaver is slightly better at SL1 but otherwise it's inferior in every way. Saw Spear has the same moveset with more range in cleaver form, a useful tranformed form with thrust attacks, and scales better with Skill which gives you stronger viscerals.

This is the only soulsborne game where I don't use strength. Your visceral damage is based off your Skill so you should level it up even if you don't have scaling. Most of the good weapons are skill or quality weapons anyways..
