Originally made in 1997 in arcades under the name of Beastorizer, the Playstation conversion went under the name of Bloody Roar, a name which the series has kept ever since. Developed by Eighting/Raizing and published by Virgin Interactive, SCEA, and Hudson Soft (depending on region), the game was a fairly standard 3D fighting game where characters have the cool ability to turn into beasts during fights (known as Zoanthropes). The beast forms had enhanced strength, can draw blood from opponents (except I believe for Alice) and additional special moves that helped them string together more complex combos their human counterparts can't.

This game isn't quite as deep as later installments in the series, but still sports great level designs, a number of fun extras, and fast fighting. One of the cool things you can do in this game is "Rave", where you temporarily gain increased speed and can cancel and string together moves you can't under ordinary circumstances. You can also smash the crap out of people and send them through walls, which is pretty much fun no matter how you look at it. I use Yugo in this video, someone who I oddly enough use less than generally every other character but felt obligated to do so here. I used to have fun with one of my friends with Greg and running off the stage, lol. Enjoy.
