Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure is one of the first Nippon Ichi games to ever be released outside of Japan, and the only game to be released outside of Japan within the "Marl Kingdom" series (along with Rhapsody DS, a recreation of sorts). It would also become Nippon Ichi's first truly popular game. Originally, the company made games back in the early-mid ninties, most of which were puzzle games, but Rhapsody is usually seen as the company's first "ambitious" title.

While Rhapsody has seen little success in the U.S. (though it has a strong cult following), it has become quite popular in Japan, and there are several games and two spinoffs in the series which go back to Nippon Ichi's roots and combines Marl with their fascination with puzzles (Mahjong and Jigsaw Puzzles). There are also Marl characters in Japanese cellphone games.

Rhapsody is a very rudimentary, short, and childish RPG with an almost nonexistant level of difficulty. However, what it lacks in the challenge department it makes up for with great musical numbers, memorable characters and dialogue, and colorful visuals. That's every bit as relevant in a game of this kind. Dubbed a "Musical RPG" It's a light-hearted series aimed more towards female gamers and a younger demographic, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't charming and obnoxiously cute at times, and I'm 23, so... yeah.

In Rhapsody, you take control of Cornet, a young teenage girl (16) who's a lot like any other stereotypical girl her age. She's cheerful and curious, though somewhat naive at times. She dreams of falling in love with a handsome prince and living happily ever after. However, she's not like the average girl because she can talk to puppets and control monsters. Of course, there's more than meets the eye. Eh, I enjoyed it. Enjoy the introduction. I got one of the musical numbers in there.
