How important is it to play a game the way it's intended, and why? Is it ever justified to lose deliberately to spare feelings? Let's discuss! Check out my Patreon and become a sponsor! - https://www.patreon.com/dannycgamingsci

We're always told from a young age that we need to play nice with others. When it comes to hobby games, however, is it really true? Can you take the competition out of a competitive game and still have the same experience? In a word, no. That said, there are something we can do to mitigate issues associated with huge score disparities. Let's talk all the things!

In this video, I discuss my thoughts on how to balance playing a game as intended with making other players still feel like it's a good experience. In addition, and probably more importantly, I talk about the potential impact this has on board gaming as a whole - attracting, and keeping, newer gamers. As always, let me know what you think about this - how do you game differently with different people, or do you at all? What do you think of others who change playstyles to accommodate other players? Let me know in the comments!
