The game relies on investigation and the difficulty varies mainly with the amount of information you collect: the less you have, the more difficult it becomes. For the sake of your own immersion, hints are incorporated in the environment and nothing is explicitly displayed on the HUD: this requires observation and reading. Some situations require strategic analysis: choose your tactics carefully, certain choices can sometimes make situations more difficult than they are.
