...Truth be told, what goes unused in the final game can be just as impressive as what IS used. Take a look at the Dark Samus concept art, for instance. One idea had her as a phantom, while another implies that she could destroy entire planets. One drawing even shows her controlling magma and a pair of giant arms to fight Samus with.

Heck, even the storyboards for cutscenes still contain a staggering amount of detail. Whether it's the cutscene involving her rough landing on Aether, or even the cutscene involving her entering a portal for the first time, every bit of Samus's body language had to be considered, including how long each of her poses would last. The storyboards even suggest that people from Nintendo would have video calls or even pay visits to Retro Studios to see how things were going.

Playing a video game is so simple, but making one is a completely different story...just look at the credits of any modern AAA game.
