in this segment, I give a back story of why this game never released in the U.S., the gist of it is SNKPlaymore had conflicted relationship with SCEA with price issue to a point the company tried (and failed) to convince the super fans to get it for the XBox. The result was the ppl express how it is too expensive and why would anyone buy this when Capcom vs. SNK 2 has a MSRP of $40.

On a side note, SNKPlaymore claim Sony rejected the game due to being 2D, however many believe that in actually, Sony suggested to lower its MSRP, which SNKPlaymore refused, they have doing that until 2007 when the PS3 was out and give up on trying to prove that their games are worth the same as more popular games. In a EGM magazine, a former Sony employee said that they knew consumers would not pay full price for 2D games thus having this unofficial anti 2D policy, again it's just they wanted to lower the MSRP.
