Boss Battle - from Miitopia (Percussion Ensemble Arrangement)
85This is my arrangement of the Boss Battle theme, from the game Miitopia, arranged for percussion ensemble. I've also seen it referred to as Event Battle before, but the official name of the song in the in-game records is Boss Battle.
The music from Miitopia is underrated. Severely underrated. Every single song in this game gets my head bobbing. There are actually three boss battle themes in Miitopia, but I arranged the first one that you hear in the game (and the only one in the demo). I could talk for hours about how crazy-good the Mii customization is in the Switch port, which led me to get farther in the Switch Demo than I did the whole game I paid for on 3DS, but I'll just let the Pikachu, Isabelle, and Kirby Miis demonstrate that for you instead. Credit where credit is due, I did receive those three Miis from "popular" online, but I still enjoyed editing them with the makeup and stuff nonetheless.
There is so much going on in this arrangement! Groovin' bass line? Check. Busy but epic drum set part? Got it. Plenty of other drums and auxiliary? Yep, we've got djembe, bongos, tambourine, and triangle. Melodies in the mallet parts that get stuck in your head for days on end? Oh yeah, they're there. Sixteenth note arpeggio runs at 174bpm on the marimba? YEAH LET'S GO!!!! Sorry, I worked A LOT on those runs, I get to be proud of them in all-caps if I want to.
To say I had fun with this arrangement would be an understatement. I'm so happy I finally got to include my djembe on an arrangement! There are so many clips of me dancing and/or throwing weird hand signs while counting rests in the videos. I had to remind myself to stop and actually play the drum fills a couple times (may or may not have had to redo the djembe part for that exact reason). I hope you enjoyed this video and arrangement as much as I did!
