♫Boss Battle Theme (Vay, Sega CD) SNES Arrangement - NintendoComplete
This is my arrangement of the boss theme BGM from Vay on the Sega CD. I have arranged the song for native playback on SNES hardware, and the audio was recorded directly from a launch-model SNES deck.
This game had such awesome battle themes. I think the soundtrack and the cutscenes were probably the main thing that got me through the grinding! Still, I really enjoyed this game.
Oh, and this song was arranged using the SNES's "surround sound" capabilities that can widen the perceived width of the sound stage while playing in stereo. It's like a (much) simpler version of the Q-Sound tech that Capcom used in their 90s arcade games.
Even though the game is 26 years old this year, let me give a fair spoiler alert: the video itself shows a fair number of plot-related cutscenes. If you intend to play the game yourself at some point, you might not want to look.
If you'd like to see my playthrough of the game, you can find it here: https://youtu.be/5otYb_WsCA0
You can hear the original version of this song at 6:08:00 in that video.
And I know the track is a bit on the repetitive side, but I made it as accurate to the Sega CD game's music as I knew how to. Well, except for replacing the tambourine with a hi hat. The tambourine was a bit much, I thought. And hopefully this doesn't make me come across like an arrogant snot, but I think that this version compares rather favorably to the original Redbook CD audio track. It doesn't sound the same, but I think it captures the feeling of it well.
