THE NUMBERS ARE IN!!!! Hey everyone, thanks for watching clevver movies, your number one source for all movie news! I'm your host, Tatiana carrier with the results from this weekends box office! Can you guys guess who came out on top?
.
Although it didn't set a franchise record, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1 had one of the best openings in box-office history by debuting to $139.5 million. For those of you who keep track, that's the fifth-best opening weekend ever, behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2, The Dark Knight, Spider-Man 3, and The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which is still the best performer of the twilight saga. New Moon debuted to just a tad bit better with $142.8 million on the same November weekend just two years ago. Breaking Dawn took in $144 million internationally so far, pushing its worldwide debut to about $283.5 million.
.
In second place was Warner Bros.' 3-D animated sequel Happy Feet Two, which actually made a bit less than it was expected to with only 22 million throughout the weekend. As you guys know, the critics weren't hugely excited about the sequel, stating the original was significantly better...but that's the case for most sequels right? The 2006 original, won an Oscar winner for best animated feature and opened to $41.5 million — and keep in mind, that was without the benefit of 3-D upcharges!
.
The 3-D action flick Immortals dropped a harsh 62 percent for $12.3 million putting the film in 3rd place for the weekend and Adam Sandlers Jack and Jill dropped an expected 52% for the second weekend open, bringing in $12 million.
.
Finally in 5th place is the most fierce kitty I know, puss for puss in boots. IN its 4th weekend open, the feisty feline brought in 10.7 million.
.
So are you guys surprised by the results? Let us know by commenting below and also be sure to tell us if you got a chance to check out any of these top flicks! Thanks for hanging out, see ya guys soon!
