GAME DESCRIPTION
Bram Stoker’s Dracula for the Game Gear was developed by Psygnosis and Probe Entertainment and published by Sony Imagesoft in September 1993. It is an action-platform game based on the movie of the same name, released in 1992 in theatres. Its story is loosely followed. It is part of 8-bit's version of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, along with the Game Boy, Sega Master System and NES port.

As explained in the manual, Dracula is described as an individual that stalks his unwitting victims with the passion of a prince and the grace of a wild animal. He can shapeshift to anything he wants and won’t hesitate to kill anybody who would put his reign in trouble.

To townsfolk, he is known as the Prince of Darkness—Count Dracula. In 1897, he cases his hypnotic spell on Mina Murray, the wife of the main character and solicitor Johnathan Harker, who came to do business with count before this event. To save her, he must drive a stake through the heart of this mischievous vampire and save Mina from being corrupted into a vampire forever.
It features many elements of the movies, but sacrifice was made to be a viable video game.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula for Game Gear summarizes the journey of Jonathan Harker. He first starts in Transylvania before being trapped in Dracula’s castle, after escaping it, he goes to the Hillingham Estate Mansion and then the Carfax Abbey Crypt, which is said to be Dracula’s London residence in order to stop the vampire at all cost. After he is aware that he returned to his castle, Jonathan returns to Transylvania and then to his castle to end his reign once for all.

There are 7 scenes, with 2 level each. The first level is always set during the daytime before gradually becoming night time. The second level, on the other hand, is always set in nightime. While its daytime, no enemy will appear, which make the obstacles and pits the only thing that Jonathan must watchout. After a minute, however, night will come and all kind of monster will appear. Dr. Van Helsing is hidden in every daytime level and can be optionally saved.

On nightime levels, Jonathan will venture into a longer level, first confronting the brides on the second scene onward, and then fighting Dracula’s many forms.

Jonathan initially starts with his knife, and he can use it to defeat every enemy but the bosses. He can also get the axe, the fire torch and the rock to defend himself. Every weapon deals the same amount of damage, but do not have the same range. The fire torch causes a small explosion once it's hit the ground, killing any regular enemy in one hit. There is also a rock variant called double rock, which throws two projectiles instead of one, making it the best weapon in the game. If Jonathan is stuck with his knife during boss battles, a double-rock power up will appear from time to time to help him out.

There are also many hidden areas where the player will find many gold coins, diamond, continue, 1 up or shield, as well as the clock to increase the time limit and the sub weapon. In every daylight level, Dr. Van Helsing is hidden in these areas.
