Bravely Default | Rules For Thee None For Me (Hard Mode)
#nocommentary #gameplay #jrpg
There is something to be said about a game that forces the player into a strategy role rather than allowing the freedom to tackle the battle as they please. Bravely Default is such a case where the first boss fight can seem endless if you do what is considered to be a sound idea: take out the white mage. What the game doesn't tell you is that all enemies have infinite MP.
My impression of this game has gone down immensely. I first heard about it when it was released in 2012. I didn't have a 3DS at the time so I skipped it and now many years later I have been presented with the opportunity to play it and I (so far) don't like it. Any turned-based game can have some strategy to it so long as it abides by the rules. Having the chance for multiple outs makes any combat encounter fun but when the game forces its rules upon you and the battle plays how the game wants to... I'm left feeling annoyed. I hope I can get over this feeling because despite its limited hardware, the game looks stylized and it has a story to tell. The gameplay is huge though.
