By zeroing in on professionals with experience in agriculture and agri-food roles—ranging from agricultural service contractors to farm supervisors and retail butchers—Canada aims to bolster its agricultural industry with the skilled talent it needs nationwide.
Canada's agriculture and agri-food industry is nothing short of a global powerhouse. In 2022, it recorded staggering exports worth nearly $92.8 billion in agriculture and food products—a testament to its robust growth.
This week's draw marks the third Express Entry event. Just yesterday, 500 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 472 were invited from the French-speaking proficiency category.
In May of this year, IRCC unveiled a bold change to its selection process. Instead of relying solely on overall CRS scores, it introduced category-based draws. This move was facilitated by a recent amendment to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act in 2022, granting the immigration minister the authority to strategically select candidates who align with Canada's economic goals.
These draws align with Canada's mission to strengthen its economy and promote the French language outside of Quebec. The five occupation-based categories include Healthcare, STEM professions, Trades, Transport, and now, Agriculture and agri-food.
For those considering Express Entry, remember that eligibility hinges on being part of the Express Entry pool and meeting the minimum CRS score criteria. Express Entry is the gateway to Canada's Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.
Express Entry evaluates candidates based on vital factors like work experience, education, language skills, and more. The highest-scoring candidates receive coveted Invitations to Apply.
Canada's Express Entry system offers an array of pathways to those seeking new opportunities on Canadian soil. Whether it's the Federal Skilled Worker Program or the Canadian Experience Class, your journey to Canada may be closer than you think.
