Breaking The Brain Scorcher (Glitch Tutorial) | S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
2A quick and easy video tutorial on how one can break the Brain Scorcher and get to Pripyat early in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.
This method requires one to force the game into a glitched state, which can often glitch out NPC spawns/behaviour, some cutscenes, objects that can be interacted with (i.e. doors, switches) and how the game tracks the player's position. This only glitches out the level that you're currently in, including objects that aren't part of the level's geometry (namely doors). This can also be performed in other levels besides the Red Forest, too. This glitch doesn't work with any of the later S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. Only works on PC.
To perform this glitch, you'll have to do the following:
From the Army Warehouses, enter the Red Forest. You should find yourself near a checkpoint that can be found further up the road.
Select the PAUSE key on your keyboard (found on the top-right of most keyboards, labelled as PAU, for short). Your game will be paused with the word "paused" in the middle of your screen, without showing you the pause menu.
From here, open the in-game console (press the key right below ESC on the top-left side of your keyboard, or your keyboard equivalent).
Save your game by typing in save YOUR_SAVE_NAME (substituting YOUR_SAVE_NAME with whatever you please; it's best to keep it short and easy to remember).
Once you've saved your game, press the ESC key to go to the pause menu, then quit to the main menu.
From the main menu, manually load your saved game that you just made. Upon loading into the game, your screen should still be pause, your character will be in a different location and your screen will be stretched out. This all indicates that you're doing this glitch correctly.
Save your game via the console again (type the following; save YOUR_SAVE_NAME_1, or something similar). Overwriting your previous save will not have any effect on your performing this glitch.
Manually load the save that you just made the via console via typing the following; load YOUR_SAVE_NAME_1. You should now load back into the game and it should have automatically unpaused itself at this point. Walk into any psi field you like; they'll no longer harm you.
Congrats! You've now broken the Brain Scorcher!
