I'd say the charm is kept in this remake, and I'd even go so far as to say improved upon. The weakness knowledge is a great help to making battles go faster, grindable Frog Coins, cutscenes for a few choice moments, triple attacks, passive bonuses from combos, and markers helping you learn when to press for damage and to defend. There's a lot of worthwhile QOL stuff in here that really elevates this game. I still have problems with timing my attacks and defense, but that's a learning thing. This is a fantastic remake.
