Preston Park hosts the launch of the Brighton's TakePart Festival. It promised to be fun-packed, and the day certainly delivered; families and friends rallied together for one of the largest community sport, dance and active lifestyle events in the country.

Organised by the Sports Development Team at the city council, the festival included a wide range of sports and activities suitable for all ages (and abilities!).

It was a spectacular day with many people leaving satisfied, having happily worn themselves out trying something new.

One of the clubs ready to give the city a new experience was Brighton Table Tennis Club. Head Coach, Tim Holtam is proud that the city is able to offer so much, including a three-in-one table tennis table. He said: "Everyone is here showcasing all of their clubs and sports. I've never seen it so busy.

With the table tennis -- we were supposed to start at twelve, there have been people playing since eleven!"

During Brighton's summertime there are countless opportunities to get involved in some kind of sporting activity and Sustrans Biking Officer, "Bike It" Ben Sherratt was on hand to spread the word about Bikestock. The celebration of cycling takes place on Saturday 28th June in Stanmer Park and "Bike It" Ben will be aiming to break a World Record!

He will be finishing a 48-hour cycle round a special track inside the park, in one gear! But that's not all, Ben has issued a challenge to the schools of Brighton and Hove -- to beat his target of 365 miles, however they're allowed to add all their miles together (phew!)

Ben had some advice for any young sports stars in the making: "Kids need to play, structured play. Just keep practicing and keep having fun, you learn, you get better -- it's a win, win situation."

Good luck to Ben and we'll soon see whether he broke the record, and whether the kids beat his distance!
