BSE Sensex Fell 610.37 Points; Nifty Declines 192.90 Points To Settle At 19,523.55 | Closing Trades
7Closing Trades: The 30-share BSE Sensex fell 610.37 points or 0.92 per cent to close at 65,508.32. Likewise, the Nifty declined 192.90 points or 0.98 per cent to settle at 19,523.55. The domestic equity market on Thursday gave up all the early gains to trade lower throughout the day amid muted global trends and continuous foreign fund outflows. The monthly derivatives expiry also added to the volatile trends in the markets.
The 30-share BSE Sensex fell 610.37 points or 0.92 per cent to close at 65,508.32. Likewise, the Nifty declined 192.90 points or 0.98 per cent to settle at 19,523.55.
The Nifty Bank index that tracks the banking sector comprising of 12 banking stocks, finished the day with a cut of 287.35 points or 0.64 per cent at 44,300.95.
Among the Sensex firms, Larsen & Toubro was the top gainer, followed by Airtel, Power Grid, Axis bank and State Bank of India. Tech Mahindra, Asian Paints, Wipro, M&M, Infosys, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bajaj Finserv, IT, HUL were the major laggards. Index heavyweight Reliance Industries fell nearly 1.50 per cent during today's session.
Earlier on Wednesday, the BSE benchmark had climbed 173.22 points or 0.26 per cent to settle at 66,118.69. The Nifty gained 51.75 points or 0.26 per cent to end at 19,716.45. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth Rs 354.35 crore, according to exchange data.
