11You compete in single player on a track of your choice among five available, with temperate, desert or snowy environments.
There are four tracks named after the cardinal points and the slightly easier offroad track, the only closed circuit in which five laps are covered.
The view is three-dimensional, with a rear view of the car and a little raised. The controls are steering, acceleration and shifting between two gears; in the arcade version you have a steering wheel, pedal and gear lever.
There is usually a narrow central road and two side dirt lanes, bounded on the outside by curbs that cannot be crossed.
The accessible terrain is scattered with obstacles, such as rocks, trees, walls and fences, also in line with the settings of the slopes.
Less frequent are the opposing buggies, which have the characteristic of being able to collect bonuses just like the player.
Narrowings such as ravines, water bridges and tunnels can reduce the number of lanes. Accidents with rollovers or falls in water cause loss of time by restarting from a standstill.
Each track is divided into five stages with intermediate milestones that must be cut before the time allowed for the stage expires, under penalty of game over.
Among the objects on the track there are also lying trunks which, if hit, act as a springboard for a big jump of the buggy, which can be useful for overcoming other obstacles.
On the other hand, small stumps and rocks make the buggy tilt to the side, which can continue to hover on two wheels for a while, which can facilitate passage through bottlenecks.
There are also numerous bonuses. Passing under the special doors you can earn points or more time for the next stage. By collecting the colored flags you get a score, especially if they are collected in the specific color order indicated above. More points are earned by hitting soccer balls.
