Bugs, murder mysteries and more in disk 1 of the Page 6 Public Domain Library for Atari 8-bit.
Today we take a look at disk 1 of the Page 6 XL/XE Public Domain Library, featuring machine code blaster Myriapede, murder mystery Inspector Clew-So, several GTIA graphics demos and much more.
The Page 6 Public Domain Library was an important part of Atari 8-bit culture in the United Kingdom, as it provided access to a wide variety of free software that, these days, one would typically just download from the Internet.
The software, most of which was written in BASIC, came from a variety of sources including user groups, magazines and private contributions, and helped showcase the versatility of the Atari 8-bit home computers -- as well as providing a means for prospective programmers to explore and learn new skills by picking apart and modifying these programs for themselves.
Explore the library for yourself at https://page6.org thanks to former Page 6 contributor Paul Rixon.
