Autonomous Machine Gun,
The work AMG is a art installation depicting industrial robotic arms wielding dummy machine guns, the work is controlled by a brain scanner, it gives the audience the power to control and manipulate a Autonomous weapon with their mind. By focusing in meditative state the audience can control the AMG to destroy it selves.
The work is meant as a wake up call, as autonomous weapons are every day more frequently used and abused in war zones and hostile borders.
All of the parts used in this project are legal, the Machine guns are legally defused and dysfunctional, but the project is very close to a working weapon, giving the audience a insight in how threatening these machines are. The work exists of two pieces one, military camouflage painted “GI Joe” version and one pink “Hello Kitty” version, straight from the upper-class girls and boys room. As true gun liberty and freedom to carry arms would mean that everybody could order a personalized sentry gun that can only be controlled by the owners mind.
The work is made in collaboration with Manifestations - Will the Future Design Us?, Sandwoman, Hackerspace Nijmegen, Hackerspace Eindhoven and Hackerspace Arnhem, the robotic arms are sponsored by IRS Robotics for Refurbished pre-owned Industrial Robotics. The work is shown 21-29 okt 2017 in Eindhoven.
