Building Real-Time Notifications w/ Rust & WebSockets | Glowing-Telegram Project - Episode 86
In this video, I delve into the implementation of real-time notifications using Rust and React-Admin for the Glowing-Telegram project. We start by examining the existing notifications system and discussing potential improvements. We consider how task status updates could be more efficiently communicated to the client without constant polling, exploring WebSocket and long-polling techniques as potential solutions. We also touch upon the concept of push notifications and the use of Redis Pub/Sub channels to facilitate real-time updates. The video includes a hands-on coding session where we set up WebSocket endpoints and integrate them with our task API. By the end of the session, we achieve a working prototype that pushes task status updates to the browser in real-time. Throughout the video, we troubleshoot various issues, optimize our code, and ensure seamless integration between the front end and the back end. Join me as I work through these challenges and bring real-time notification capabilities to our project. Happy coding!
