Even Heroes Die is an action platforming roguelite with elements from the Metroidvania and Zelda genres. The hero has been afflicted with a deadly curse, and you must scour the ever-changing kingdom for a cure before his time runs out.

Perhaps the most important aspect of a roguelite is a solid gameplay loop- every challenge and choice that is presented to the player should feel impactful and relevant to their primary objective. With Even Heroes Die, players were presented with a Metroidvania map to explore but given little incentive to do so.

In this episode, I mainly talk about what I did to fix that. I filled the world with ways to boost your character's power and shape your build.
