Bunsumer Reports - Log Jammers (PC)
0Mega Cat Studios reached out to me via email asking whether I wanted a PC key for this or the NES cartrdige, but for lack of an NES or other hardware to play the latter on, I had to go with the PC version. Not that I'm complaining, by any means; it just would've been nice to have both to compare and contrast.
That said, this is great. You can kind of smell it in the game's title, but it's a loving homage to WindJammers, the fast-paced Neo-Geo disc sport game that recently saw a revival, a more current take, and a sequel coming down the pipe. Despite the clear connections, Log Jammers inserts a lot of personality into its characters and setting, though it's kind of disappointing most of the lore, to date, is still on the Kickstarter.
Did I mention it's on Kickstarter? Still? As of this posting, they have nine days to go and are just a hair under 3/4 of the way to their goal amount. There's also video content and screenshots on the KS page that show off some of the modes I didn't get to in this sample play, and explain things.
