The racing video game Burnout Legends was created by Criterion Games and released by Electronic Arts for the PlayStation Portable. Many of the courses and game types from the original three Burnout games were repackaged for the portable platform in this title. With a combination of old and new tracks, many of the gameplay options are comparable to Burnout 3: Takedown. The Visual Impact team created the Nintendo DS port.
Sony Computer Entertainment created and sold the handheld game console known as the PlayStation Portable (PSP). The first handheld PlayStation console, it was first released on December 12, 2004, in Japan, followed by North America on March 24, 2005, and PAL areas on September 1, 2005. The PSP and Nintendo DS were rival seventh generation consoles.
