In Final Fantasy V for the SNES/Super Famicom, certain spells can only be cast on specific targets. For example, some White Magic buffs can only be used on single targets, and most Summon spells can only be cast on the enemy part. But there's a cool glitch involving the Mix command that allows you to bypass these limitations.

First, use the Chemist's Mix command in battle to mix any two ingredients. It doesn't matter what the outcome is, as long as you use the Mix command. Note that it's called the Combine command in certain translations such as the one I'm playing.

Next, have anyone in your party use the X-Magic command, which can be learned by mastering the Red Mage class. This ability normally lets a character use two magic spells in a single turn.

However, if you've already used the Mix command in battle, the targeting of the spells you select will be a little wonky. For whatever reason, the target or targets of BOTH SPELLS you've selected with the X-Magic command will be determined by the second spell. In other words, if the second spell you selected targets your entire party, then BOTH spells will target your entire party, regardless of whether that first spell can normally target your entire party or not. This glitch works with most but not all spells.

So for example, if I cast the Bahamut Summon on my enemies with the first choice, then cast the Armor spell on an ally with my second choice, my ally will be the target of BOTH the Bahamut Summon and the Armor magic.
