In the next game in my series about retro games with elusive controls, I explore the classic game, Aztec. This game feels like a spiritual ancestor of the later cinematic platformers like Prince of Persia but before the controls had quite been figured out.

Some controls make sense to a modern gamer, such as "A" to go left and "D" to go right. But "W" to begin walking, "R" to run, and "S" to stop? Oof. And wait until you see the fight controls. "L" for lunge, "M" to stab down with your machete... yeah, this is going to take some getting used to.

Or you could just remap all these keys to a modern gamepad.
