This is the first in a new series I'm doing where I'm exploring retro games with interesting, unique, or just outright bad controls and seeing if they can be improved by remapping them with more modern gamepad technology.

Something I never appreciated as a kid was that Survivor was a twin-stick shooter, but only if you selected the two player mode. One player would pilot the ship, and the other could fire the gun in eight directions. Or, using remapping, you can pilot the ship with your d-pad and fire in eight directions using your right analog stick or face buttons. It's actually a lot of fun! (For a little while, at least.)
