C64 Game: Bubble It
"Complaints on the conveyor belt come to us in the editorial office, so the games on the MAGIC DISK or GAME ON would be "child's play" and "far too easy". This problem can be remedied: At BUBBLE IT! Even the greatest joystick artists will work up a sweat when they no longer see the field for the enemies!
A difference to "normal" skill games on the computer is that BUBBLE IT! is different from game to game. Unlike most action games, there are no simple solutions to overcome or outsmart your opponents, as they always move differently and therefore become unpredictable. Therefore, even solving a level does not lose its appeal after a short time.
BUBBLE IT! is (to our delight!) equipped with a fast loader. An integrated editor makes the game even more appealing, as the whole circle of acquaintances can be passed with self-created levels. Fast digital sound routines, drums and other sound effects provide the musical accompaniment to the program.
To the story of BUBBLE IT!:
Gustav, a little hedgehog, has lost his mom. Lonely and without knowing that he ended up in a flower shop, Gustav gropes around.
It strikes midnight from a distant church tower when he enters the room with the cactus collection. Whenever he comes across a cactus in the dark, he whispers softly: "Mom ...?" .
When it struck half past one, Gustav was fed up. "She must have lost me," Gustav thinks grumpily as he trots towards the exit, "Well, half as bad. Surely she is waiting for me at home".
On the way home Gustav suddenly gets an appetite for some great chewing gum. Like every concerned hedgehog mother, Filius had of course forbidden her Gustav to eat these delicacies, but this did not prevent him from occasionally exceeding the ban.
"What mother doesn't know doesn't make mother hot," Gustav thinks, heading for the gumball machine on the corner. He scrapes his last pennies together in the pale light of the street lamp, pulls two packs and makes his way home. When he arrives there, his mother is already waiting for him at the front door, and after a good timpani, Gustav is sent to bed without dessert.
When our little hedgehog is lying in his bed, he thinks "Finally rest!", puts two chewing gums in his mouth and pulls his duvet over his head. As he chews loudly, he dreams to himself. It is a confused dream, beyond reality. In this dream Gustav gets into the chewing gum machine, where he is hunted by disgusting "anti-crooks".
These want to prevent Gustav from picking up the many chewing gums stored there. . . !
The game BUBBLE IT! is about this dream. They slip into the role of the little hedgehog cub Gustav, who is hunted by the wild "anti-crooks".
A few more tips for using the editor:
You can use the function keys to select the character you want to set next.
With B you can change the background.
After completion of the level, it can be saved on disk with S (Save).
Pressing X takes you back to the main menu.
Have fun!
