The following is a combination of Martin Walker's instructions (only found here https://archive.org/stream/zzap64-magazine-024/ZZap_64_Issue_024_1987_Apr#page/n65/mode/2up as far as I know) and a bit of editing/extra info from me:

RULES OF THE ELEMENTS

Fire destroys Water and turns Earth to Fire
Earth blocks Water
Air blows out Fire
Water destroys Fire and turns Air to Water

CONTROLS

Hold the fire button/tap down a few times for the element (weapon) selection screen. Point at and shoot one to select. Hold the fire button/tap any direction except down to shoot.

Up/up-diagonals to jump (over the puddles that decrease your energy). Hold down to duck.

COMPLETING THE LEVELS

The bar at the bottom of the scroll next to your score indicates your remaining energy. The colour of the energy bar changes according to what elemental weapon you are currently using (you can choose this by holding fire and tapping down): yellow for Fire, dark blue for Water, green for Earth, and purple for Air. You lose one of your three lives when the bar runs down to nothing. You get an extra life every 10,000 points.

Shoot the flying demons with the correct element to ward them off and the ones that appear about every eight seconds on the floor (these ones contain a flux that tops up your energy). The gnats can't be killed. Shooting also decreases your energy.

The Exit boxes are opened by passing power points (indicated by "M" symbols, crosses, obelisks, etc...), or at one of the four times of day. The hidden flux appears at the different sounding power point when all boxes are open (they fill up). The ruling demons can be destroyed permanently after this is picked up. Then walk to the nearest power point and onto the next level.

When all demon gauges (top bars) are empty, any power point transfers Chameleon to the next level. In Limbo, simply pass all four power points to get to the exit.

ENEMIES

Fireballs (Fire, duh) - Use one Fire shot, Air and Water destroy it but gives no flux
Black Squares (Earth) - Air and Water won't work, use Earth once or Fire twice
Vortices (Air) - Earth and Fire won't work, use Air once or Water twice
Spheres (Water) - Transforms from Black Square if shot with Fire once

ORDER OF LEVELS/REALMS

Fire
Earth
Air
Water
Limbo
(loops but with more enemies and different background colours)
