The home console version doesn't have the time limit. In the arcade version, the minimum damage you take from the enemy equals to your character's current level. If he or she is lv19, then you will lose at least 19 HP if you are hit, no matter how weak the enemy is. The PC-Engine version don't have this feature, making it a much much easier version.
Also, in the Arcade version, the price of staying in the inn drastically increases each time after you stay. The PC-Engine version lacks such a feature.
