*For the All Cals team, press Start while holding R & L on the team select screen. I test out this code here against the Chicago Cubs. The code will work in Exhibition Mode only.

Batting is from a behind the plate perspective, while fielding is easy to learn so you should consistently know where your players are in relation to the ball. Many baseball games have their glaring faults but nothing really negative stands out here to me. There's no bad camera angles or unnecessary zoom-ins, instead offering a constant view of the action. The speed of both the ball and the players is right where it should be. This is where many baseball games fail in my book, settling for a much faster, sloppier feel. In the stable and sturdy Cal Ripken Jr. Baseball, the errors you make will always be your own fault. The computer seldom makes a mistake, so it's easy to let a good game slip away like in the real sport. The sprites are well drawn and the solid, tight controls feel much like the similar looking SNES Mindscape game, Paperboy 2.
