Call of Duty: Black Ops - first 30 min - pt3 of 3
see it before you buy it. I used this spec:
CPU: Intel Core I7 860 @ 3.8Ghz + H50 Corsair watercooling
Memory: 4Gb GSkill 2200Mhz cas7 + fan
Motherboard: EVGA P55 FTW
Video card: EVGA GTX 465 Superclocked
Windows 7 64 bit
LCD: 120hz lowered the fpsa little bit, otherwise it would be higher.
Game: COD Black Ops licensed steam version
Video capturing software: Moroz Video Capture
Recording the sound with Zoom H2 professional audio recorder connected to Moroz Video Capture, because Moroz Video Capture is not able record audio in Windows7 without a device or a audio in and out cable.
Video editing: Moroz Video Converter to convert video and set the watermark
Personal thoughts:
Personally, I think this game is epic failed on singleplayer campaign. I dont have time for multiplayer(gotta impressed the world and try to develop or design something) but singleplayer is not so cool comparing to previous. First of all the cartoon render is getting back to fashion for newest games, those hand drawing textures instead of photo realistic. Dont like it! Second, the atmosphere is not there - you dont feel that cold level like in cod world at war or modern warfare 2. I think, after playing first 40 minutes, that graphics is way superior in Call of Duty Modern warfare 2 or world at war series. By the way, this game was not developed by cod4 or mw2, it was done by thos who developed world at war, and you kind of feel it. This game needs more smoke particles on my opinion and less those light bulbs that you cant break. Less static meshes, bring some dynamics , come on this is a 2010! Oh yeah those consoles, I think all pc gamers needs to go for a strike, those games in 2010 look like crap, because optimized for consoles. I think pc gaming should be better then it is right now, and people with kick ass hardware should be enjoying better render. I am not fan of that cartoonish graphics like medal of honor 2010 and black ops.
However, I did not played mission with helicopters yet, hopefully it will get better, but come on first 30 minutes of this? Mission with cuba with russian coil mine I felt like playing cod 2 - graphically. Did not see those beautiful particicles, dynamic shadows. Saw static and sharp shadows, levels textures felt like static lightmaps and lighting on those textures was pre designed.
I did not say that this game is bad, but I did not see cutting edge render while playing 40 minutes, to me it was 2008-2009 lookish. Scenario and render was way better on COD World at war and MW2.
My friend who preordered this game was sad and said he will get back to battlefield bad company 2 and I dont blame him. However, multiplayer will be even less on graphics, but could be a fun for previous fans. Multiplayer has a lot of features and abilities to play around. So they did a good job on that. So those words was about single player campaign that was always impressive and pushing the edge with call of duty franchise as I remembered it.
In the right corner you have gpu temp, gpu load, gpu fan, gpu frequency, video card memory frequency, and frames per second(fps) during real time capturing my gameplay with Moroz Video Capture(my own developed software) and maximum details on 1280x720.
Using EVGA GTX 465 superclocked overclocked by GPU to 760Mhz and stock memory I was be able play 1920x1080 and maximum details at 55-65 fps average without recording. Very smooth.
As again I am not saying this is a bad game, I am saying they could be done better for a price tag of 59.99. This game should be no more then 39.99 by the way it is right now, 59.99 is to much money for this game, unless you are die hard multiplayer. Otherwise, wait till the price will go down to 29.99 after New Year holiday.
