This was probably the real reason I made sure to stop at King Street Station. I had to walk a bit from the station to get this view, but with a bit of having the hold the camera high, I was able to get what I think is good enough.

The main focus here are the pair of AEM-7 Electric Locomotives, 929 and 938. One of these units will be used for testing once the “Nightmare” is ready, while the other will be used for parts. I hope at least one of these units can be preserved after Caltrain is done with them. Yes, I did get VERY emotional standing near these engines, considering my history with them. I was born and raised in Connecticut, right next to the Northeast Corridor, and AEM-7s like these, as well as the HHP-8s, and a very certain model of EMU operated by Metro North, helped make me the train lover i’ve been my entire life. I’ve very likely seen both 929 and 938 in operation back when they were still with Amtrak. It felt strange seeing them again for the first time in 9 years.

Behind the historic Toasters is Caltrain F40PH-2 Screamer 910 “Millbrae”. This unit was reportedly retired, so that made sense as to why it was there, and leads me to assume that Cab Car 4003 back there is retired as well.

Much farther back, you can see three other F40s sitting alone. Those are the three units which are officially retired for good, which are 905 “Sunnyvale”, 912 “San Bruno”, and 914 “Atherton”. We’ll have to see if they eventually move 910 back there with them as well.

Also back there, you can see some Gallery Cab Cars. These are all the retired Gallery Cabs, as well as some other certain Blind Coaches that are also retired. Cab Cars confirmed to be dead and sitting back there are 4001, 4004, 4006, 4007, 4009, 4010, 4011, 4013, and 4014. Of course, along with those, 4003 seems to have fallen as well. As we left after I took this video, I was able to get a better view of them, and can confirm that the closest Cab Car on the left was 4006.
