Can Levi Kitchen Rebound from Supercross? 2024 Motocross Predictions
2The 2024 Supercross season is over, and Levi Kitchen and Pro Circuit Kawasaki were denied a 250cc Supercross title.
Can Levi Kitchen rebound this summer? My answer is yes because Kitchen has a long career ahead of him, and he will contend for many more titles. However, it hasn't worked out for some riders.
In 1992, Damon Bradshaw led the 250cc Supercross series with 9 wins, but an out-of-character 5th place finish cost him the title to Jeff Stanton, who won the finale at the L.A. Coliseum. It was Stanton's 3rd win of 1992, and he stole the title from Bradshaw, who would later retire at age 21 after 1993.
In 2000, Brock Sellards led the 125cc East series with 2nd place finishes in the first 5 races of the season. He stumbled to two 4th places in the final three races and lost the title chase to Stephane Roncada, who won 4 races that season. Sellards did not contend for another title until 2003.
In 2005, Josh Hansen tied Grant Langston in the final points standings for the 125cc East series. Hansen led the series after Daytona when Langston finished 15th and Davi Millsaps DNF'd. Hansen won the final round in Detroit, but Langston finished in 4th, which was enough to steal the title from Hansen. Langston was awarded the title because he had 3 wins to Josh Hansen's 2. As a result, Hansen went from team to team and did not contend for another title until 2011.
