Can you play Doom on a dual core? PC 1080p Intel G3258 with AMD RX 460
This game was a bit of a challenge to get a video of.
First - I wanted to use the Vulcan api but the game kept crashing when I tried to record. Not sure why. So had to settle for openGl.
Second - Loading off a hard drive is insanely slow. Forget getting a drink slow, I'm talking going out to dinner slow. Do not think the fault is with the drive as other games load fine and the load times in my other systems are all "sane." Loading the game an external ssd via usb 3 was significantly faster and is what i used to make the video. Best guess is the fault lies with either the dual-core cpu. My other systems are quad and six core builds.
Third - The fps in the video stays in the 30's and feels a little choppy but that is from recording. Without recording I hit 50+ fps and the game felt very smooth.
*I wouldn't hesitate in saying that Doom is very playble on this system.....as long as your playing off an ssd. I actually tried doing the video off a normal drive last week and rage quit because of the glacial load times.
Cpu: Intel G3258 4.5ghz OC
Gpu: AMD RX 460 2gb
Ram: 1600mhz 8gb ddr3
Win 7, recorded recorded with Crimson Relive
res: 1080p low settings
*note that for the system memory is actually limited to a max of 1400mhz due to cpu/mobo limitations. I am however running it at CL 8 timings.
**for cpu cooling I use a cooler Master 120mm closed loop liquid cooler. Max oc is limited by the motherboards max voltage setting.
