Can You Use A Large Hard Disk Drive With Your iPhone 15?
69Using an 18TB USB 3 hard disk drive with your iPhone 15 Pro Max gives you a massive amount of backup storage space. With ProRes video files being so big and if you do a lot of filming, you will be needing to backoff those video files regularly to free up internal storage space on your iPhone.
This Western Digital WD Elements 18TB USB hard drive is a perfect temporary and intermediate backup solution for my iPhone 15 Pro Max within my video post production workflow. It may also be a consideration for you.
While SSD drives will be a faster option for backing-up and saving your ProRes video files form your iPhone 15. This 18TB hard drive is a way cheaper option on a per gigabyte basis. Plus this hard drive is actually faster than a lot of SATA SSDs in USB-C enclosures, as a lot of SATA, and even cheaper NVME SSDs, will slow down very quickly when they exceed their cache and buffer when writing to them
This WD hard drive also reads a lot faster and writes faster when used with a Windows or Mac PC.
Don't forget, this hard drive can also be used for other file storage from a Windows PC or Mac PC. Just make sure to use ExFAT if using Windows.
Paired up with the Blackmagic Camera App on iPhone 15 and DaVinci Resolve on your Windows or Mac PC. This drive is a seriously useful tool for your post production workflow.
