C&C Tiberian Sun Firestorm - Nod Finale Core of the Problem on Hard Difficulty
Playthrough of Tiberian Sun Firestorm Brotherhood of Nod mission 9 - Core fo the Problem on hard difficulty.
That took me far too long.
GDI confirms the destruction of CABAL's Cyborg Factory soon after Nod forces managed to shut down the mining operations. Now is the time to strike at the CABAL's primary core and wipe out the treacherous AI for good.
The first 15 minutes of this mission is made of pure chaos - to the point that figuring out how to deal with it took me all the time in the world. You begin with relatively weaker forces than the enemy and replacement for lack of Cyborgs - Elite Cadre, that is nowhere good as them, but thats what you gotta use. You also receive 3 Limpet Drones, group of Rocket Lords, 2 Devil's Tongue and Engineers.
My plan for the first section of the mission was simple. Fix the bridge, load 4 cadres into APC and move it to the other side while rest of troops move through the bridge into small CABAL's outpost. This will trigger MCV arrival, which should appear before your APC emerges, casuing 2 nearby cyborgs to focus on it instead of the Elites in APC. Capture the barracks using second Engineer and start mas producing infantry - Elites, Rifles, Rockets, whatever floats your boat. Start luring out 2 groups of cyborgs near ramp and take them out. If you played this right, you should have a large group of infantry on standby. Move down the ramp and deploy the MCV.
Next step requires you to immediately deal with Missile Silos. For that purpose i load 5 Enigneers into Driller and use Limpet drones to scout the way towards the bottom right corner of the map. Fun fact. Did you know that Limpet Drones can outrun Reaper's missiles? Fun fact 2, Did you know that the 4 Reapers that are protecting the Missile SIlos can be lured out into nowhere? Thats what i did. With that, i managed to capture all Silos for my use and turned that area into my Power Plant section after placing Stealth Generator there. Easy.
Now you have to clear out the map from enemy forces protecting the Radio stations. First is located in Missile SIlo area, Second behind cliffs near captured GDI base and last in middle, covered by Veins and Tiberium Fiends. There are 4 small outposts over the map that i recommend clearing out. First is the area in the middle, under the protection of Juggernauts. Using Banshees you can easily sweep the area and then lay claim to this section. Mixed GDI/CABAL base is far more tricky. Entering that rea will casue AI to spam abnormal ammouts of Artillery units, that will make your life a living nightmare. There are 3 Factories in total, 2 near entrance and one far behind. You can try capturing GDI factory for tech, but make sure to place a Stealth Generator near it to not let it be destroyed. Sweeping through factories will make your life far easier, unlike mine in this video.
Once you clear the Power Plants in GDI/CABAL base, the AA defenses in upper left corner will be disabled, allowing you to clear the area with Banshees and allow access to second Radio Station. After that, you can either proceed with attacking the base below the middle radio stations or ignore it and focus on objective. Use Banshees or Artillery to destroy the veinholes and capture the final radio station. Upon doing that, map will be revealed and Core Defender will activate. Make sure you have enough of forces to battle it. Once destoryed, CABAL's core is within your grasp. Destroy it to complete the campaign.
Well, that was a blast. Sorry it took that long. Im wondering what should i do next. Maybe RA1 campaign? Maybe commentated RA2? I should also finally get back to some older projects.
