Treaty with USA President Dugan has been signed, elliminating USA from the war. War in Europe has stalemated and General Carville is retreating towards the Allied base in Alaska. This is not the end of the issues - recent with communication issues its impossible to establish the battlefgield control over large distances. In addition to that, recent reports by General Argo of Latin Confederation confirm the existence of a weather manipulation technology in enemy hands. Comrade General is forced to personally lead the assault on Allied Base in Virgin Islands.
The first time i played this level i had mixed feelings about playing this with both ground and naval units but after experiencing it this mission seems to have weird sense of balance between both. Anyway, your objective is to destroy the Weather Control Device. And its right on the island next to you. Simple, right? Well prepare for a rollercoaster.
As somoene would say, The objective is super unique. You have to destroy the WCD that will be chronolifted into new area. Each area will be defended by progressively larger group of enemies. Here is a fun fact however: For the first two sections of map you can depower the AI, effectively disabling the Allied Superweapon and buying you time to establish economy and forces. Which is what i did. A mix of Naval and Ground forces can work wonders in conjunction, with Kuznetsov's breaking the enemy defenses and mix of Catastrophe and Buratino clearing the island. Once area #1 is clean, i progress mission forward by damaging the Superweapon.
The map will expand, revealing the WCD in Euro Alliance base, on the end of the island your forces are occupying. I decided to push through entire naval barricade, clean up initial defenses with tanks and shut down power with Dreadnoughts. AI will take it sweet time cleaning up the place and you can prepare for next stage.
Stage 3 will land the WCD in joint base of Euro and Pacific Front forces. Now it will be locked down with Magnetic Satelites - and covered with shield, that you need to find out how to disable. As a preparation for this stage i created abnormal ammouts of Squids, that i used to clear entire enemy naval presence. Now with squds residing at the corners of map waiting to intercept reinforcements, the core of a problem are 2 MCV's that will rebuild structures across the island - i destroy the first one with Kuznetsov's and second with Nuke to disable the AA and Akulas.
By that time WCD will fire once and enter critical state, causing lightrning strikes all across the map. You like bad news? There is a map wide Zephyr bombardment too. Not enough? Admiral Nagama reinforcements are coming. But wait, there is more! Norio himself takes the lead and protects the device. You are tasked with elliminating the threat. There are couple of ways you may want to consider. First is leading the group of transports including the Stalin's Fist into the main island and spamming abnormal ammouts of Halftracks. Second is trying to lure Norio on water area and massing Seawolfs to combat him. The easiest way (and about to be nerfed) is using Vultures. Choice is yours.
Once Norio has fallen, Shield will disappear and Mag Sats will crush the Allied superweapon into ground. At the same time Argo's forces will assault your base, since it appears he was in league with a bald man himself - Yuri. You end up being mind controlled.
However, the taskforce sent to search and rescue troops including Perun, Morales and Boris arrives hours later to scavenge the situiation. Elliminate the Iron Curtain with Akulas and send Air units to destroy the beacon. Once elliminated, mission will end.
There are couple of easter eggs:
- The vanilla Dreadnought is still there, you can claim it.
- Destroying the hotel next to found Kuznetsov grants money crate.
- Destroying 5 Stone Faces will grant Chaos Touch support power.
- Capturing the cow with Drakuv, putting it into Field Bureau and capturing the tent will grant you single PsiCorps trooper, that can be mass produced after scavenging.
