The "five" theory:
After taking suggestions from commenters and doing some thinking of my own, I started piecing things together with the whole five theory. The constant allusions to the "...white hand on your shoulder..." dialogue bit traced back to the girl in Lavender Town. Lavender Town, coincidentally, is the 5th town you get to from your starting point, Pallet Town. If something was trying to tell me something involving the number 5 in-game, then Lavender Town was where I needed to investigate.
I started up my game after not playing it since the initial series of frightening glitches. Everything booted up normal, and my last save, which was right before fighting the final Black Belt (the FIFTH Black Belt that started the series of glitches, further proving the number five had something to do with all this) seemed to be fine. Except, one thing was off. I looked in my party only to find whitehand missing. I didn't release it, and no one has access to my PC except for me, so no one could have gotten on and done anything with the save or the rom. At first, I thought maybe this was all going to be over, until I realized it was probably done for a reason; to give me five Pokemon in my party. Although the possibility of coincidence still existed, in my mind this was no longer a coincidence, and whatever this was was trying to give me another hint. Realizing this, I set off to Lavender Town.
I started my screen recorder and walked inside Pokemon Tower with my mission being to make it to the 5th floor, and, if there were 5 NPCs there, to talk to the 5th one I see. Upon entering the staircase which leads to the second floor, however, I noticed something very frightening. For a brief second, the old man overworld sprite appeared and vanished in an instant, and actually made the game lag a little. Now, normally I would think this was just a random glitchy occurrence, but considering whitehand's overworld sprite took this form before vanishing from my party, I figured it had to be something "guiding" me, if you will. Although a little startled at this, I continued to trek to the 5th floor.
Upon reaching the 5th floor, I came upon the "white magic" space, which was put there to heal your Pokemon after the many battles that took place prior. I walked into it, and instead of being greeted with the usual dialogue that said my Pokemon had been healed, an odd music started to play. My character had changed position and was facing away from the camera, too, which was odd. Freaked out, I still pressed forward to talk to the 5th NPC... only I wasn't pressing "forward." My sprite was locked into position with his back turned to me, no matter which direction I walked. I tried walking back into the enchanted square to see if it would fix itself, but it didn't, although the dialogue that signified that my Pokemon had been healed displayed this time.
Though frightened, I continued walking, only to stumble into one of the gravestone barriers. Instead of bumping into it though, I WALKED into it, and into a random encounter battle, which was strange to me as my Super Repel I had used earlier had not yet worn off. The Pokemon I ran into was just a Gastly, however, so I simply ran in case this was a glitch that would crash my game. After running, I walked out of the grave stone, but upon exiting I couldn't move. After messing with the directional buttons for a few seconds, I jarred myself free and my character was fixed, facing and walking as normal again, coincidentally right before the fifth NPC.
I walked over and spoke to her, and she said, "I fell to evil spirits despite my training." Although eerie, I wondered if this was the message I was supposed to receive? I spoke to her again, and again. On the fourth attempt, the music stopped entirely. Although scared to even ask for a 5th time, my curiosity had gotten the best of me and I did anyway. The same mysterious Pokemon cry from the first series of glitches that I encountered in "capture-1" broke the silence, and once again I was teleported to a blank screen with Professor Oak just staring at me. The music was different this time however... it sounded almost as if it were reversed from the first time I experienced this. Hitting the A button again did nothing, and surprisingly, even the hard reset (holding A, B, start and select) did nothing this time. My heart sank into my stomach at the fear of what might be said by Oak this time, but before any dialogue popped up, I panicked and reset the rom through the emulator.
"I fell to evil spirits despite my training." The color blue. What could all this mean? I need to dig deeper.
