Toyota is teaming up with the U.S mapping start-up CARMERA to develop camera-based automation of high definition (HD) maps for urban and surface roads.

The two companies will place cameras in Toyota test vehicles to collect data over several months from areas of downtown Tokyo. Ro Gupta, CARMERA’s CEO, told us how his company is making HD maps for robots.
