“Venom” was 2019’s surprise hit which featured anti-hero Eddie Brock and his symbiote buddy Venom as they tried to take down Carlton Drake and the evil symbiote Riot. Tom Hardy was incredible in the film at showing off his struggle connecting with the alien who had overtaken his body. The movie ended up being just as funny as it was action-packed, but signs point towards the sequel being a lot less comedic and a lot darker.
Woody Harrelson is joining the cast as Cletus Kasady, a deranged criminal who joins forces with the equally-deranged symbiote Carnage. They’ll also be joined by Naomie Harris in the role of Shriek. With these dark villains joining the cast and Carnage’s powers being as strong as they are in the comics, it looks like Marvel’s dark universe is finally becoming realized.
