Everybody loved disonaurs when they were a kid. So this game has a lot of nostalgic value and just the words “Dinosaur Hunter” are cool enough to get you excited. Unfortunately, all the potential this game had just made us feel disappointed. It could have been so much more.

You hunt dinosaurs for sport with either a rifle, a crossbow or a sniper rifle. It sounds limited at first, but you can upgrade weapons (and your GPS) through gems you get for each kill. These upgrades usually go around making you more deadly and stealthy.

Tracking with hunting techniques is a cool concept, since you must follow footprints and awareness of wind direction is important so the dinosurs don’t catch your smell. The GPS radar will be your most trusty ally however, since it will help you find your prey through the games different areas (jungle, forests, deserts, etc.)

But this is where it starts going downhill. Nothing in the environment reacts to your presence or actions. It’s just there, being all static like a wall. And not a pretty wall, even. You don’t leave footprints, you don’t brush against bushes, and you don’t break branches you pass through. It’s like the game is constantly slapping you in the face to remind you that it is, in fact, just a game.

And we know that every game has its limitations but the star of the game, the dinosaurs, are just not up to the task of making this a cool experience. First of all, there’s only 5 species to hunt. But the worst thing is the AI. They either run right towards you, making them an easy target or, even worse, get stuck on the map itself. And when they do kill you… oh boy… the animation is just awful.

That being said, it did manage to be fun for a couple of hours. So we gave it a 4/10.
